Our Mission and Core Values

God's Promise

Jerimiah 29:11  For I know the plans I have for you – declares the Lord – plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.

OSB’S Mission:

Within our community, Oak Street Baptist Church strives to passionately share God's Love and live God's Word so together we will live and follow Him.

OSB’S Vision:

Our vision is to greatly influence our community and the world with the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Therefore, in satisfying our vision, we commit to prayerfully become more like Jesus in fulfilling the Great Commission.  We also commit to ministering and caring for our children and youth, while training adults in their Christian walk – to be filled with hope as we glorify God.

OSB’S CORE VALUES

GOD

We believe in one God, the uncreated Creator, who is holy and eternal, existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God has graciously purposed from eternity to redeem a people unto Himself and to make all things new.
2 Corinthians 13:14

THE BIBLE

We believe the Bible is God’s Word given by divine inspiration, the record of God’s revelation of Himself to humanity. It is trustworthy, sufficient, without error. It is the complete revelation of His will for salvation. It is the supreme authority that is our guide for all doctrine and conduct.
2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2 Peter 1:20,21; Romans 16:25,26

JESUS CHRIST

We believe He is God Incarnate, fully God and fully man, one person in two natures. Jesus is Israel’s promised Messiah, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and was born of a Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, was crucified, arose bodily from the grave, ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of God the Father as our High Priest and Advocate.
John 1:1; Matthew 1:23; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:22; Acts 1:9; Ephesians 4:8-10

EVANGELISM

We believe God has commissioned the Church to lay its life down in order to take the message of the gospel to every living person in our community and the world. Therefore, we will seek out and welcome the opportunity to interact with lost people all over the world about what God has done for us in Jesus.
Matthew 28:19,20

LOVING RELATIONSHIPS

Every person on earth was created in the image of God. We will love and respect all people. We will seek to create environments where God’s people can share, grow with, pray with, encourage, care for, and love one another in living out the gospel in the context of our community. Our children and youth must be nurtured in the Lord in order to make godly decisions as they grow.
Colossians 1:16; Genesis 1:26,27; Genesis 2:7

Prayer

God has given us the ability to communicate with Him. He has ordained that the prayers of His people be a means of accomplishing His good purposes on the earth. We will encourage, instruct, and insist that God’s people pray, both individually as well as corporately.
James 5:16, Romans 12:12; Colossians 4:2

Worship

Worship gives us opportunity to praise God for who He is. Worship is not just for Sunday but every day. Our corporate worship gives opportunity to create an environment where gifted people can work together in fulfilling their potential to offer a vibrant worship to the Lord.
Ephesians 4:11-16, Acts 16:25
